Kiera loves her Grandma and all of the fun activities they do together. But when Grandma starts forgetting things, those precious moments between them seem to be lost too. Kiera doesn’t give up on Grandma, and finds a special doll that connects them when they are together, and even when they are apart.
Paulette Bochnig Sharkey took a simple and effective approach in explaining what Alzheimer’s Disease looks like to a young child, and how it can change a relationship. Through the story, the roles between Grandma and Kiera switched and I love that Kiera chose to find the small joys in the situation, and found simple ways to celebrate the woman she loved so much.
Such an important book on what it looks like to a little girl when her grandma is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
