A Bit About Abbi

Born and raised in Kansas, Abbi has lived all across that wonderful state: on a farm, in a tiny town, and in the biggest city in the state. Despite all the moving, Abbi always found joy within the worlds of a book. One of her fondest memories is riding her bike to the small town library to check out the next book in the A to Z Mysteries series. In elementary school, she had the lofty goal of reading every book in the school library (unfortunately this was unsuccessful).

Abbi Lee Headshot

Abbi pursued her degrees in Secondary Education in Social Studies and English from Emporia State University and after teaching for a few years, she decided to stay at home with her daughters. From an early age, her girls loved to read so it was only a matter of time before ideas started working themselves into words on a page. Abbi is passionate about writing picture books through middle grade novels and has enjoyed every minute of writing realistic and contemporary stories (with a few touches of magic). Outside of reading and writing, Abbi also enjoys crafting, cooking, baking, and working on the PTO at her daughters’ school. She doesn’t like to exercise but makes time for it anyway… sometimes.

FAQs

Where Do You Write?

Anywhere and everywhere! Inspiration can strike at any moment so I usually have my notebook (or the notes app on my phone) close by. When I need to sit down and write, or dig into revisions, here are a few of the places you may find me:

Are You Working On Any New Books?

Yes! Iโ€™m currently working on the second book in the Geocache Club series and starting to outline the third. I also have another middle grade story (completely separate from the Geocache Club series) that is outlined and I’ve even written a few chapters. That one is focused on food and I can’t wait to get back to it, but I need to finish the Geocache Club series first. I also have a massive spreadsheet of ideas waiting for me in case I ever need them.

Fun Facts

  • I used to teach cake decorating classes and also create cakes for weddings and special events. Nowadays I use those skills to make fun cakes for my daughters. ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿง
  • I’ve had a “bucket list” book since college. It has stock photos of things I want to experience in my lifetime to help keep me motivated to accomplish those things. Once I actually do one of those things, I paste a photo of the activity next to the stock photo and write a brief description. Some of my favorite achievements so far have been:
    – skydiving โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿช‚
    – jumping off a cliff into Lake of the Ozarks ๐Ÿšค
    – falling in love and creating a family ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ’—
    – riding in a hot air balloon ๐ŸŽˆ
    – visiting the ocean ๐ŸŒŠ
  • I absolutely LOVE chocolate! ๐Ÿซ My all-time favorite is a good ol’ milk chocolate Hershey bar.
  • Some of my favorite books are: The Westing Game, The Amelia Six, The Great Peach Experiment series, A Place at the Table, Roll with It, Song for a Whale, Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, The Lion of Mars, and the All Four Stars series. ๐Ÿ“š
